''environment variables'' are variables that are used to:
  * configure the behavior of tabulify
  * or as [[template|template variable]] 

===== Order of Precedence =====
The same variable can be found in multiple place, we are taking the configuration with the higher priority.

Configuration Priority In Descendent Order:
  * [[command_line_variable_file|Command Line Variables file]]
  * [[dotenv|Dot env Variables File]]
  * [[:docs:project:project-file|Project Variables File]]
  * Operating System Environment variables
  * [[user|User Variable File]]

===== Management =====

You can:
  * add, remove variables from [[docs:conf:variable_file|variable files]] with:
      * [[docs:tabli:variable:set]]
      * [[docs:tabli:variable:delete]]
  * or list variables  with:
      * [[docs:tabli:variable:list]]

The file edited is the file given with the ''%%--vars%%'' option. 

By default, the file edited is:
  * if in a project: the [[:docs:project:project-file|project variable file]] 
  * if not: the [[docs:conf:user|user file]]
